Well, all right!

[He trusts Sora, so he figures it can't be that bad. Sora's his friend, after all...]

[scissorbear]

... [This is bad. Judai is using a borrowed deck, and while neither of them will get to finish the duel, out of necessity, he'll be at a disadvantage.]

Brace yourself.

[The duel disk activates.]

[hyperhero]

I can handle it. I trust you.

[He triggers his own, slotting in the borrowed deck.]

[scissorbear]

Then, I'll go first.

[Someone unseen in the control room flicks a switch and the field is randomly selected.]

Duel!

[Hm...]

I summon Furnimal Sheep in defense mode! I'll set a card, and end my turn.

[hyperhero]

Got it! Then, I'll...

[At least this borrowed deck is still fusion heavy. That makes it possible for Judai to get an idea of how to use it, at the least, and a couple of the turns go by without too much trouble.

But then Judai manages to get his fused monster out... and going right for Sora.]

[scissorbear]

[It's good that he is... with the high power level of Judai's normal deck, he might not have handled this so well. Even so, even though Sora braces himself for impact, the blow strikes hard, drawing a scream of pain from him as it slams him into the 'wall' a few feet back with enough force to leave cracks in it. He slumps to the ground briefly, gasping. Ow... that... really hurt.]

[hyperhero]

Wha-?!

[And the actual duel is momentarily forgotten as Judai rushes over, ignoring everything to drop down and check on Sora.]

Sora! You okay?

[scissorbear]

I- it's fine...

[Pushing himself up off the ground, he sways on his feet briefly but catches his balance.]

I've taken worse damage before.

[Though if Judai looks, he'll notice Sora is definitely injured a little from the force of his impact. It doesn't seem anything's broken, but it's definitely hurt him a lot.]

[hyperhero]

[Which is why he's not done worrying yet.]

What happened? That shouldn't have done THAT!

[scissorbear]

This is the difference between dueling as a game, and dueling in reality. Even if you avoid harm from the monsters themselves... the shockwaves can and will throw you and everything else around.

[He probably should have warned him first. But he had intended to let Judai get the first blow in anyway, since his earlier warning about the danger hadn't settled.]

[hyperhero]

So that's it...

[He stands back up, shaking his head a bit and crossing his arms.]

Alright, well, let's stop the duel, then! I'm not gonna hurt you.

[scissorbear]

[Straightening up, he looks off into space as he answers.]

No, we should go on a little longer. You're supposed to be getting used to doing this.

[hyperhero]

If it's going to actually hurt you, I don't want to get used to it!

[He knows he's supposed to play along and all, but nothing's worth having to hurt his friend.]

[scissorbear]

[The turn time limit's up. Since Judai moved, the turn ended automatically instead of forfeiting. Which means it's his turn. He draws as he speaks.]

Don't worry! We can reset the duel if it gets too dangerous.

[hyperhero]

Well, but...

[He's still clearly reluctant, not even wanting to move back to his side.]

...are you sure?

[scissorbear]

It's fine. Just defend yourself and do your best. I've done this plenty of times.

[hyperhero]

...All right.

[Reluctantly, he goes back to his spot, but he won't be doing even close to his best. Only careful attacks, and only once he's sure they won't really hurt Sora. Even if Sora's used to this... no way is he going all out in this situation.]

[scissorbear]

[Except that Sora is determined to make him push that limit, pressing him.]

Battle-!

[The only way Judai can help himself now is to play the quick-play card in his hand. But using it to reflect the damage will surely injure Sora... he's already seen that even magic cards can cause pain.]

[hyperhero]

[Which is exactly why Judai doesn't play it. Instead, he braces himself with a wince, crying as he's thrown backwards violently, slamming into the floor, then the wall, leaving marks there and choking out in pain. Nothing broke, but damn, it sure felt like it almost did...]

O-Ow...

[scissorbear]

Judai-?!

[Oh hell, that looked far worse than he expected, and he rushes over. Hopefully he didn't break anything...]

Are you alright...?

[hyperhero]

Yeah, I'm fine... I don't think I broke anything, but it hurts a lot.

[Ow... gingerly, he tries to stand up, clearly having some trouble with it.]

[scissorbear]

[He stops him, reaching out to run his hands down his legs and check for wounds.]

[hyperhero]

Ow...

[Judai grumbles, but there's a clear cut there, lightly scraped open when he skidded against the ground a little. It's not too bad, but it's definitely bleeding.]

I'm fine, really.

[scissorbear]

Of course you are... the fact that you're bleeding is totally normal and not worthy of note.

[He rolls his eyes as he straightens up.]

You need to focus! You've been holding back all this time!
